The BLM Ranger program started in Southern California. We have a long, proud history here in California.

We also have a lot of issues. Why does CA BLM chose not to pay our rangers Administratively Uncontrolled Overtime (AUO) even though it is covered in the contract and under the law (Article 47.7)? Why are our Rangers having to buy their own equipment or repair their equipment with their personal funds in many cases? What is Management considering under their "Managing for Excellence" draft proposals for our Rangers? Why are our rangers expected to do many things on their off time that should be considered hours of work - like getting dressed in full gear? Or getting their physicals, which are a requirement of the job?

A member brought a recent article to my attention - which lead me to do a little research. Here are some interesting articles to read about what is considered "hours of work" by other law enforcement agencies. And here is what the CFR says. If you have questions or concerns about being paid properly, please contact the Union President or Vice President.

The Union has started an egroup to provide a focus group approach to some of these issues. You must be a dues paying member to participate. All you need is a yahoo ID which is free. Sign up and contact the Union at admin@nffe2152.org and request to participate in the CA-BLM LEO egroup. The union is only as strong as it's members make it. To find out more about joining the union, click here. For more information on the CA-BLM-LEO egroup, contact Elaine Downing at 760-326-7003.

Here is a report from 2004 we thought might be helpful to LEO's duscussing their pay and benifits. Check it out!
